On the African continent, Arabica coffee is primarily grown in East Africa, where the plant has deep, ancient roots. Arabica originated in the western forests of Ethiopia and the Boma Plateau of Sudan, where it has thrived for millennia, resulting in a wide diversity of species and varieties.

From Ethiopia’s Kafa zone, coffee spread eastward to regions like Harar and eventually crossed the Red Sea to Yemen, where it was cultivated for trade throughout the Arab world and beyond. African coffees are celebrated for their exceptional diversity and history, making them truly unique in the coffee world.
